2017 Color palette for your home

imagesWelcome 2017! This year’s “in” color palette will reflect; your personality, recent history, a change in the economy, the presidential election.  Take your pick!  And  you thought you were finally finished changing the interior colors of your lovely home!

Last year’s trends

Last year, the experts instructed us to want blue with some earth tones and  and grays added for contrast. Peace, dependability and constancy are associated with the color blue . Who even knew that?  According to the experts, chocolate brown is on it’s way out, with cinnamon and mocha the new trend in browns.

Depending upon your source, you should have wanted to paint your home white, off-white, gray, or blue with or without “pops” of color or accent colors to accent your base color.  Two-tone cabinets were also very popular.

This year, you can paint your home to reflect your outlook.  Confident, Composed, or Comfortable.  Really?   However, according to our experts, the creative among us will like and want the ” confident” color scheme.  “Dusky” blue this year,  with red and lime green  as accents.  However, those of the Composed color group,  longing to be traditional , will favor greens and taupes for their home makeover.  Those introverts who will only dabble in subtle shades for accent colors will be painting their homes with soft pastels, light pink, blue and yellow .  Whew!  It’s a lot to take in!

Let me get this straight

There are people who get paid just to decide what colors we the consumers are going to want to paint the insides of our homes.  Therefore, the colors change from year to year, depending on the political landscape, the global economy, our confidence levels, global warming.  Ok, that is helpful.  Our conclusion, if your home needs painting, choose a color palette of colors that please you and that you think you will be comfortable for you and your family to live in for now and the future.  In conclusion, paint your home with colors that suit you and your furniture, and forget about “the year’s hot new trends in color.”

Top 3 Reasons People Want to Live in Coeur d’Alene, ID

So you’ve probably already heard all the wonderful things people are saying about Coeur d’Alene, ID – how warm and beautiful the summers are, how much fun they have at festivals like Art on the Green and Car d’Alene, the plethora of options for dining out downtown and, of course, the stunning beauty of Lake Coeur d’Alene with its bordering evergreen mountains. But that’s just during the summer months. If you’re considering moving to Coeur d’Alene or are looking at real estate investment opportunities, you’re probably wondering what makes Coeur d’Alene so great that people are willing to live here year-round and brave the desolation of winter for a few brief months of summer? Is the tourist season all that’s driving and supporting this cozy little lake town?

Not at all. There are several reasons people choose to live in Coeur d’Alene year-round or invest in real estate here.

  • Retirement and Healthcare. Coeur d’Alene was voted one of the top ten places to retire due in part to its wide range of affordable healthcare options and 55+ retirement communities. It also hosts a large number of in-home care providers and top-rated assisted living facilities, making Coeur d’Alene an excellent place where people can retire and still feel like they are part of a vibrant and thriving community.

  • Recreation and Outdoor Activities. Coeur d’Alene is the perfect place to settle down and still be within a short driving distance of fantastic hiking and winter sports. No time for strenuous long-distance hikes? No problem! Hop on over to Tubbs Hill or Mineral Ridge for a short 2-3 mile hike with fantastic views. Not an outdoorsy type of person at all? Also not a problem. Coeur d’Alene boasts over 150 miles of paved pathways for both cyclists and pedestrians, all within and surrounding the city center, so you will have no lack of opportunities to get out there and get fit. Oh, and don’t forget about the lake. Swimming, skiing, boating, sailing, paddle boarding, wake boarding, parasailing, river cruises, strolling the boardwalk, floating the nearby rivers, public beaches for improving your tan…Lake Coeur d’Alene has it all!

  • Weather. Ok, so the winters aren’t great. Any local will tell you that. But anyone who’s spent any extended period of time East of the Continental Divide will tell you that winters in Coeur d’Alene are a walk in the park compared to the bitter subzero temperatures that gust across the Midwest. On average, the coldest it gets in Coeur d’Alene is in the low 20’s during the day and the low teens at night, with a handful of light snowfalls throughout the season and very little wind. Anyone who grew up shoveling snow drifts out of their driveway in -10 temps will tell you that the lack of heavy winds in Coeur d’Alene alone makes it worth living there year-round. And once summertime hits, memories of winter melt away faster than an ice cream cone on a Midwest sidewalk in August.

Maybe you already live in Coeur d’Alene and are more concerned with how other people view your fine, fair city. Is it really as desirable as people say? Is the economy booming enough to make it worth investing in real estate so you can cash in on the influx of people relocating from places like the humid Midwest or overpopulated California? The short answer is a resounding yes. The above are just a few reasons why people love living in Coeur d’Alene, but don’t take my word for it. Ask a local. Anyone who’s spent a decent amount of time here can give you their own reasons for coming, and for staying.

End The Anxiety About Real Estate Investing!

End The Anxiety About Real Estate Investing!

Figuring out the world of investing can seem quite complicated at times. After all, a monkey once made better investment decisions than a Wall Street broker. However, there are many different ways to approach investing, and having the proper knowledge is vital to your success. The following information is going to help you get going.

Always be on time when you set up a meeting with a potential client. This will indicate that you mean business and will show no disrespect to your potential customer. Coming to a meeting late shows that you are unorganized and do not care about your customers, which will cause you to lose them.

Never invest too much money in the beginning as this can cause a lot of problems down the road. Overextending yourself can lead to problems with your savings plans and prevent you from buying great properties in the near future. Develop the proper budget and follow it to a tee.

When you are trying to determine the monetary worth of a home that you are considering buying, don’t neglect to factor in potential rental income. Renting a home can make you a significant amount of money. After that, it is possible for you to sell the home and realize a greater profit.

Consider building up a real estate rental portfolio that can continue to provide you with consistent profit for retirement purposes. While purchasing homes to sell for profit is still possible, it is less of a reality in today’s world than it has been in the past. Building up rental income by purchasing the right properties is trending vs flipping homes due to the current housing market.

Don’t let your emotions be your guide in real estate investing. What you want personally certainly plays into home buying for yourself, but not for investing your money. Stick to what can make you money, and that is it. Always compare a property’s purchase price versus what you can make from it in terms of rental or fixing up and selling.

When you first start out you should have some patience. It could be a while before you score your first deal. There may not be the right properties out there, or your terms couldn’t be met. Avoid being rash and investing in something less than perfect. That’s just wasting your money. Wait it out until a great investment comes along.

When looking at investment properties, it’s important to know the neighborhood. Location is crucial in the real estate market. It is a good idea to talk with those around the property to see if the information you have is accurate.

The best real estate investment you can make is purchasing and renting out one bedroom condos. Most people that are in the market for a rental property are single may they be young singles, divorced middle-agers or older widowed people. It is not only the easiest property to rent, but also the simplest to manage.

Speak with friends, family or schoolmates who have knowledge about the business and pick their brains. This can be a free source of information that can help you to develop the best possible strategy for your budget and skill level. Gaining more knowledge is imperative in this business to gain an edge.

Stick with a single property. Although purchasing multiple properties can seem like a good idea, if you are an inexperienced real estate investor, owning multiple properties is not always wise. Focus on quality at first with only one property. In the long term, you will get better results.

Well, is investing for success on your to do list now? Saving and investing your money is a very important part of securing your future. So, take all the tidbits you just read and put them to good use so that your investment portfolio thrives, possibly with a double digit return!
